Beyond Current Horizons: Eight Socio-Technical Trends for the Future

Abstract: This is a fast-paced presentation, involving nothing but pictures, to illustrate a major briefing paper that I co-authored with Claire O'Malley and Josie Taylor, for the UK Government's Department of Children, Schools, and Families (DCSF) as part of their "Beyond Current Horizons" futures project (see www.beyondcurrenthorizons.org.uk). The paper, and this presentation, surveys eight major socio-technical trends that look set to have a major influence on children's education over the next 25 or more years. It's intentionally provocative.
